Systems designed in an office with reliable connectivity tend to assume it. At a hydropower site, a form that loses its contents on a dropped connection will be abandoned within a week, and the store keeper will return to a register.
Design for the worst hour of the day
Assume intermittent bandwidth, older devices and interruptions mid-task. Save aggressively, keep forms short, and make every screen usable at the width of a phone held in one hand.
The measure of an operational system is not how it demonstrates. It is whether the person at site still uses it in month four.
